Sonic RA Max

Before the rest of running culture caught Salomon, Satisfy already had a shoe on it. The Sonic RA Max was Salomon’s first max-cushion road trainer. Partouche — Annecy, skate, punk, the Alps — stripped it to black or white, a seamless collar, OrthoLite that holds a swelling foot without choking it, non-slip rubberized laces. Vibe in the midsole to kill the chatter of asphalt. Under 250 grams. One word on the insole: possessed.

It was not a lifestyle recode. It was a long-run object that happened to look like it belonged next to Satisfy’s apparel. Salomon branding at the heel, Satisfy on the tongue spec and heel tab. 01 and WHT printed on the white pair’s toes, like a parts list.

24 September 2018, $270. A second trio arrived in May 2019 — all-black, silver and orange — at $280. The first drop is the one that still reads as a founding document.
